We'd love for people to come and stay for the full weekend or possibly extend longer to enjoy a little southern hospitality.

We'd suggest looking into VRBO, AirBnB or Homeaway.  There are some incredible historic homes for rent  downtown, or beach houses out on Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island or Isle of Palms.  If you need help deciding where to book and what neighborhoods are best, please feel free to reach out to Luke or myself.

Blocks of rooms have been reserved at the Marriott Courtyard in downtown Charleston, SC and the Hampton Inn  Mt. Pleasant / Patriot's Point, which is just over the bridge.  Please mention the Clay-Newton wedding to receive the group rate.

things to do

eat + drink

There are so many great places to check out, a few suggestions are below.  Please keep in mind any of the more upscale restaurants will likely require a reservation.

  • Nicer - Coast, FIG, The Ordinary, Stella's, The Darling Oyster, McCrady's, +Poogan's Porch.
  • Casual - Close for Business, Rarebit, D'Allessandros Pizza,  TacoBoy + Five Loaves Cafe.
  • Drinks - The Belmont, Proof, Close for Business, Stars (roof top if it's nice enough!), The Griffon, really most places in town serve up a stiff drink...

history+ Activities

If it's nice enough a walking tour or carriage tour are a great way to see the town and get a bit of history.  Additionally there are a few things below we recommend:

  • Walk the bridge
  • Historic Home Tours
  • The Old Jail
  • Rent a bike - Afford-a-Bike or from the new bike share.  Make sure to cruise around the battery - East Bay street all the way around the peninsula.

Folly Beach - 20 minutes south of the city, eclectic crowd and laid back restaurants/bars.

Sullivan's Island - a quiet beach and the quickest trip from downtown - be sure to check out Poe's for a burger and beer.

Isle of Palms - Beautiful beach with upscale dining options.

There are a lot of courses. My knowledge is limited, but google's is infinite!

King Street - north and south of Calhoun have plenty to offer, both chain stores and boutiques.

We have registries at the following stores:
